The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect pointed a gun at another motorist in Montara.
MONTARA – Authorities arrested a 56-year-old Oakland man on suspicion of pointing a gun at another motorist during a road-rage incident Sunday night on the San Mateo County coast.
The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. at Highway 1 and 2nd Avenue in Montara, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect left the area before sheriff’s deputies arrived, but witnesses provided a description of the suspect and his car, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies then used automated license-plate reader technology to identify the car and focus their search efforts.
A short time later, deputies found the suspect in the 100 block of Beach Way in neighboring Moss Beach and took him into custody. During their investigation, deputies seized separate baggies containing substances believed to be cocaine and methamphetamine, along with a semi-automatic firearm, ammunition, illegal fireworks and a false registration tab, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office said deputies arrested the man on suspicion of crimes including assault with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance for sale.
