House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has suggested she’s not eager to impeach President Donald Trump but on Monday she put it bluntly, saying she’s “not for impeachment.”

“Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. And he’s just not worth it.” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi California’s Pelosi spoke to the Washington Post and answered a question about removing Trump from office, a call made by some of her fellow Democrats.

Democrats including Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib have been supportive of impeaching Trump, though Ocasio-Cortez said las week she would “defer to party leadership.” Pelosi isn’t the only high-profile Democrat to back away from impeachment. Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid last spring said his party would be “better off” the less it talked about impeachment.
