'This is about something so serious and so personal and so disrespectful of women,' House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in an interview with FaceTheNation
indicating a majority of justices may overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that established the right to an abortion, saying it"slapped women in the face" by undermining their ability to make decisions about their families.
Disclosure of the document, leaked from an institution that closely guards its secrets, sent shockwaves through Washington and sparked protests nationwide. President Biden called on Congress to pass legislation bolstering abortion rights, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced theto advance a bill enshrining the right to an abortion established by Roe into federal law on Wednesday.
Pelosi, too, said enshrining Roe into law is key for protecting a woman's right to choose whether to terminate a pregnancy.
