At least four people were struck by gel-type pellets fired from a minivan, according to police

San Diego police are investigating a series of pellet shootings in Hillcrest as hate crimes, with four incidents occurring in the last week, including one around 2 a.m. Sunday.

Police said they are asking the public to help them find who is responsible for a series of attacks involving assailants driving around in a light-colored minivan who were shooting “gel-type pellets” at victims, police Cpt. Juan Sanchez said. Sanchez said the latest incident occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday near 10th and University avenues. A detailed description of the suspects wasn’t released, although police believe they were male.

At least four people were hit by pellets, but no one was seriously injured, police said. The investigation is ongoing.were shot in front of Hillcrest gay bars with gel pellets fired from a car in the early morning. Police said someone drove up to four gay bars with LGBTQIA+ markings displayed outside and opened fire.

Three people were hit, including one security guard who was hit in the eye and required minor surgery, police said at the time.
