Some 24 people have died in 22 Hudson County crashes so far in 2023, including nine pedestrians.

A pedestrian was struck and killed in the area of 16th Street and Marin Boulevard in Jersey City Saturday afternoon, police said in radio transmissions.

Details on the fatal crash — the ninth in Jersey City this year — were not available Sunday afternoon. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said it is not leading the investigation and Jersey City officials did not respond to a request for information. The nine Jersey City crashes have accounted for 11 deaths.With eight weeks left in the year, Hudson County is approaching the recent high in roadway deaths, when 30 people died in 2020.
