A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in southwest suburban Joliet on Saturday night.
A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash Saturday night in southwest suburban Joliet .Officers responded to the scene near the intersection of 4th Avenue and Chicago Street on the city’s Near East Side around 9:30 p.m. where they found a 62-year-old man lying on the sidewalk, police said. The man was critically injured and taken to Ascension Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet .He later died at the hospital.
Officers obtained surveillance footage of the crash which showed the sedan traveling at a high rate of speed and hitting the victim, police said.Joliet police are searching for the silver sedan which appeared to have front-end damage.The Joliet Police Traffic Unit is investigating the crash and trying to identify the suspect driver of the silver sedan.
