PITTSBURG — A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle driven on a rural bypass road by a person suspected of being under the influence, police said.
The suspected DUI collision happened about 1:15 a.m. Thursday morning on Kirker Pass Road at Nortonville Road, according to a statement from Pittsburg police. Authorities did not publicly identify the pedestrian immediately, pending the notification of next of kin. Police arrested the driver of the vehicle on suspicion of DUI after that driver stayed and spoke with officers.
Officers discovered the pedestrian in the roadway after arriving. They pronounced the pedestrian dead there.
