Emergency services raced to Castle Place in the East Ayrshire town around 12.35pm.Police have confirmed that a pedestrian has died in the collision, but have not provided further details.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are investigating a fatal road crash involving a pedestrian which happened around 12.35pm on Monday, September 18 on Castle Place, New Cumnock."

Traffic monitoring system Inrix states: "A76 Castle in both directions closed due to accident investigation work from New Cumnock Roundabout to Nith View. Affecting traffic between Cumnock and Sanquhar."
