A section of a pedestrian bridge at Eastman Business Park in Rochester collapsed after a truck crash on Tuesday morning. The incident resulted in injuries to the car driver who crashed into the bridge debris.
A portion of a pedestrian bridge at Eastman Business Park collapsed when a car crashed into it Tuesday morning. Officers responded to Mount Read Boulevard between West Ridge Road and Ridgeway Avenue around 11:15 a.m. for a report of a crash. A roll-off dumpster-type truck was southbound, with the rear of the truck in an upright position, when it struck the pedestrian bridge and caused the collapse, according to police, before a southbound car crashed into the rubble.
Police said the driver of the car was hospitalized with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was evaluated for a minor injury. The crash remains under investigation, with police working to learn why the rear of the truck was in an upright position. No charges have been filed, and no citations have been issued
