Pedestrian, 70, struck and killed in La Jolla [Breaking]
A driver struck and fatally injured a 70-year-old man Monday night as he walked across a La Jolla roadway, according to San Diego police.
It happened just after 6 p.m. as the victim walked south across Torrey Pines Road a little east of La Jolla Parkway, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said. A 40-year-old woman was heading east up Torrey Pines Road in the right lane when she struck the man, Buttle said. Paramedics took him to a hospital, where he died.
The victim’s name was not immediately released, nor were other details about how the crash occurred. Buttle said neither alcohol nor drug impairment were thought to be factors in the deadly crash, which the Police Department’s traffic division is investigating.
