Pearly-Thinaah reach Malaysian Masters semi-finals, Aaron-Wooi Yik bow out

KUALA LUMPUR: Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah booked their spot in the semi-finals of the Malaysian Masters but it was the end of the road for men's doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik.

National women's doubles pair Pearly-Thinaah displayed great determination and fighting spirit to overcome Japan's world No. 9 Yuki Fukushima-Sayaka Hirota 13-21, 21-19, 21-16 in a match lasting 1 hour and 51 minutes at the Axiata Arena on Friday .

The world No. 11 pair will next take on South Korea's Jeong Na-eun-Kim Hye-jeong for a place in the final. Men's doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun made it a double joy for the home fans when they stunned Indonesia's three-time world champions Mohd Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan 23-21, 21-17 to reach their first ever World Tour Super 500 last four.

World No. 26 Wei Chong-Kai Wun will face another Indonesian pair, world No. 9 Leo Rolly-Daniel Marthin next.Independent pair Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi's run also came to an end after the duo went down fighting 21-15, 16-21, 14-21 to South Korea's Kang Min-hyuk-Seo Seung-jae.
