PETALING JAYA: It was not a glorious end for Malaysia's Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah at the Hong Kong Open.
The duo got off to a brilliant start but poor third game saw them losing 21-14, 22-24, 9-21 to world No. 8 and world championships silver medal winners Apriyani Rahayu-Siti Fadia Ramadhanti of Indonesia in the women's doubles final in Kowloon on Sunday .
Pearly-Thinaah had a good chance to finish it off in straight games but the Indonesians' late comeback put paid to their hopes.With the defeat, the duo's chase for their first title also continues. They last won a title at the French Open last October. Overall though, Pearly-Thinaah will head into the Asian Games in Hangzhou next week, knowing that they have a shot at winning a medal at least.
