Pearland ousts longtime city manager amid budget shortfall
Pearland’s council ousted its longtime city manager late Monday during a meeting in which elected leaders discussed how to stem a $10 million 2023 budget shortfall.
The city council unanimously voted to fire City Manager Clay Pearson, said Joe Calderon, a spokesman for the city. Pearson had worked for Pearland since March 2014, leading the community through Hurricane Harvey, the pandemic and more. Trent Epperson, the city’s deputy city manager, will hold the interim city manager title while the council searches for Pearson’s full-time replacement.
