Peafowl mating season lasts from early spring to early summer and is the period when male peacock's train feathers come in. During mating season, peafowl can make more noise than usual, as males call out to attract females. Peafowl may also be more aggressive and territorial during this time. The peacock was safely trapped by ACS crews over the weekend, after living in the Alamo Heights neighborhood and occasionally finding his way to the Botanical Garden. The peacock is being relocated to a wildlife sanctuary, Norwood added.

"People should just allow these birds and other wildlife be," Norwood wrote."Feeding peacocks, while not illegal, is highly discouraged. Generally, people do not feed these animals the proper diet, nor can they provide the environment and socialization the birds require." Peacocks require a very specific diet and forage, Norwood noted.
