Chukwudi Iwuji says the upcoming final two episodes of Peacemaker could bring tears, teasing a potentially emotional ending to James Gunn's TheSuicideSquad spin-off series...😢 'I do genuinely think there will be the flutter of the old tear duct.'
Peacemaker star Chukwudi Iwuji has teased that the final season 1, episodes 7 and 8 may be tear-inducing. Created by James Gunn as a spin-off from 2021's The Suicide Squad, the series premiered on HBO Max in January, and follows the titular DC Comics character as he embarks on a new mission.
With just two episodes remaining in Peacemaker season 1, the show has already featured a number of memorable moments and DCEU tie-ins. Fans of the series last saw Murn, a lone dissenter, divulge the Butterflies' intentions to take over Earth, while the Evergreen police force became possessed and publicly called for Smith's arrest.
"Honestly, in these last episodes you get a sense of who these characters could be, given time; you get a sense of how they’ve grown, and surprisingly so since theres been so much hilarity; there a lot of smiling; and I do genuinely think there will be the flutter of the old tear duct." The excitement surrounding Peacemaker's final episodes, particularly episode 8, has been building for some time now. Gunn has teased that Peacemaker episode 8 contains some big, top-secret surprises, and refused to allow HBO Max to send the final installment out to the press. In fact, Gunn has even kept the final cut of episode 8 secret from many of the Peacemaker cast, revealing that only a small number of people know what takes place.
Iwuji's comments teasing an emotional Peacemaker finale points to the surprisingly nuanced way that Gunn has approached an otherwise seemingly two-dimensional anti-hero, who has previously been described as simply"a douchey Captain America," and made him relatable and likeable.
