A police oversight body is recommending two P.A. officers be disciplined for \u0027neglect of duty\u0027 after toddler Tanner Brass\u0027 2022 death.
Brass allegedly assaulted Frenchman after an argument; she later told officers she was pushed down steps and left the home around 3 a.m. She would return 90 minutes later to pick up her son and some clothes but would encounter Brass, who had “had blood on him,” the report states.
The PCC recommends “appropriate discipline” for two officers who were found to be in “neglect of duty” for their response to the call. They were suspended pending the outcome of the PCC investigation, the scope of which included three senior supervisory officers.“No mother should ever have to go through this. No mother should have to feel this pain,” Frenchman said in a statement last year.

Brass spoke to the officers from a window, it says.
“The circumstances on the morning of February 10, 2022, amount to a tragic and potentially avoidable incident.” The officers mistakenly believed they could not enter the home without a warrant or permission from Brass, failed to follow the police force’s intimate partner violence policy, which required them “ensure the immediate safety of the complainant and any children who may be present,” did not obtain a victim impact statement from Frenchman about the alleged assault, and did not take information about Brass’s possible level of intoxication and whether it was safe for him to be around the baby, the...
