PC Harper’s heartbroken widow says she was ‘let down’ by his ‘remorseless’ killers’ sentence
PC Andrew Harper's widow has said she felt "an overwhelming sense of disappointment for him" as she thought he'd been "totally let down" by his "remorseless" killers' sentence.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain today, Lissie said: "We need some form of justice should the worst thing happen to them ."Dealing with the grief is a tremendous effort, so when it comes to the court case you do think 'this will be hard, but we'll get through it and at the end of it Andrew will have some justice' and for that not to happen is heartbreaking.
It comes as Henry Long, one of PC Harper's killers, applied for permission to appeal against his 16-year prison sentence. Referring to their appeals, Lissie said: "I'm not overly surprised but pretty appalled that these people having shown no remorse now think it's within their right to appeal. Already the sentences are far too lenient."They just don't see what they've done. There isn't a deterrent for these people. They think they can commit crime and even take people's lives and that's acceptable but it isn't and we're disgusted by that sort of behaviour.
