Of 92 county clerks in the state, Porter County’s own Clerk of the Circuit and Superior Courts Jessica Bailey has been named Indiana Clerk of the Year by the Association of Indiana Clerks. Bailey is in the first year of her second term as clerk and is currently serving as president of the AIC.
“She’s an outstanding clerk and your community should be very proud of who they’ve put into office,” said Huntington County Clerk Shelley Septer, a member of the AIC’s board and one of those who nominated Bailey. “She’s just an amazing human. If anybody needs help, she is absolutely there and willing to help.” Bailey is known among her peers as a changemaker. This isn’t the first time she’s been honored in the role.
“I thought there were some changes that needed to be done with the Porter County Election Board.” Those changes included holding monthly Board of Elections & Registration meetings instead of sporadically as they had been done under the previous administration. Bailey says campaign finance reports were also never reviewed before she took over. Elections Board Vice President Ethan Lowe is the only board member who has been around since before Bailey became clerk.
