President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed the new chairperson and eight members of the Marawi Compensation Board.
The Marawi Compensation Board was created under the Republic Act 11696, an act providing compensation for the loss or destruction of properties and loss of lives during the Marawi siege in 2017.
It is tasked to facilitate the tax-free payment of reparations to qualified claimants who lost residential and commercial properties in the devastating Marawi siege. The President has also tapped Romulo Victoria Arugay as chairman of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas. Arugay took his oath of office on Jan. 24, the Palace said.
The Commission on Filipinos Overseas is an agency under the Office of the President tasked to promote and uphold the interests, rights and welfare of overseas Filipinos and strengthen their ties with the Motherland.
