Helldivers 2 has come a long way since its initial explosive popularity back in 2024, hosting a plethora of exciting content updates that introduce new enemies, missions, gear, and even an entirely new faction.

To combat all the deadly new threats added to Helldivers 2 since its release, Arrowhead Game Studio has also been adding to its growing catalog of battle-pass-inspired Warbonds. Unfortunately, these premium additions also bring up their own concerns, with inflated file sizes and discouraging returning players who have to grind considerably if they want to play with Helldivers 2's exciting new gadgets. Although the ability to earn premium currency for free in the game world certainly helps players to farm for Warbonds, another popular horde shooter released over a decade ago already has the perfect solution for Helldivers 2's growing issue. PAYDAY 2 Is Getting A DLC Subscription Service Opening The Door For A New Generation Of Players Having received a substantial number of post-launch updates over the years, PAYDAY 2's library of DLC is more than a little intimidating for new players, leaving them with large chunks of the game missing or not knowing which ones are worth purchasing. Surprisingly, PAYDAY 2's developers recently came up with the perfect solution to this problem by introducing a simple subscription service. Granting access to all previous DLC at a fraction of the cost of $5 a month, the subscription doesn't replace any of the DLC itself, but offers an alternative for new players who want to try out the game before making any large financial commitments. As if the concept wasn't beneficial enough on its own, any progress made while the subscription is active will fully carry over into the game after it ends, although DLC-related characters and weapons will be temporarily unusable if you don't subscribe again or purchase the required DLC separately. A Subscription Service Could Fix Helldivers 2's DLC Problem Encouraging Returning Players To Get Back Into The Fight While Helldivers 2 has been on a roll with its string of exciting new content updates and perfectly thematic crossovers, it's hard not to be a little disappointed to come back and see how few weapons and gadgets there are to fight with for free. Even if this problem is less relevant for active players with enough premium currency to unlock their favorite Warbonds, the system isn't far from generous when it comes to new or returning players. With the steady stream of Warbonds unlikely to slow down anytime soon and a massive influx of Xbox players aiding the fight for Super Earth, a monthly subscription model for paid Warbond access could be just the kick Helldivers 2 needs to thrive as time goes on. 10/10 9/10 Helldivers 2 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Like Follow Followed Third-Person Shooter Extraction Shooter Action Science Fiction Systems OpenCritic Reviews Top Critic Avg: 83/100 Critics Rec: 91% Released February 8, 2024 ESRB Mature 17+ / Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, In-Game Purchases, Users Interact Developer Arrowhead Game Studios, Nixxes Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment, PlayStation Publishing Engine bitsquid 6 Images Close
