Bush nursing centres in Victorian communities are worried they may be unable to keep up with rising costs that now include increasing salaries of their nursing staff.
Managers of bush nursing centres say they need urgent funding to match wage increases for their nurses.
Ms Hutchins said losing these services could be detrimental to the local communities that did not have access to better healthcare facilities. They provide many services including visiting a GP service, home care packages, and community transport services. The centre's health service manager Nicole Stevens said her main role was overseeing administration, but she also served as a clinical nurse for emergencies or when staff were on leave."Dartmoor and Nelson have an older community … and we have elderly clients in the community who don't drive," she said.
"Health services will receive additional funding to deliver the new agreement with nurses," the spokesperson said.
