Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher provided their opinions on Amadou Onana, who moved from Everton to Aston Villa for £50m this summer, on the latest edition of The Overlap
Everton did well to bring in a major sum for Amadou Onana, according to two Champions League winners who were far from impressed with the midfielder. Neither Paul Scholes nor Jamie Carragher believe his performances in Royal Blue warranted the hype around his name. That hype saw clubs such as Arsenal considering Onana before Aston Villa sealed a £50m move.
The club achieved that - but even against that backdrop, Scholes and Carragher have questioned the size of the deal. Manchester United legend Scholes, speaking during Sky show The Overlap 's latest fan debate, said: 'I don't really see the Onana thing either. I didn't see it while he was at Everton, I didn't see it at Belgium either. 'When they said £50m for him I just thought: 'Ooh, that sounds a little bit too much'.
