ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum is getting roasted for his opinion about Indiana coach Curt Cignetti.
ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum was asked at the time if Indiana was making the right choice by agreeing to pay Cignetti $11.6 million per year through the 2030 season."They did not, and before anybody jumps out of their chair, allow me to explain,“ Paul Finebaumat the time.
”I think everyone on this panel agrees that he’s done a phenomenal job. But this is how programs get in trouble. “They just gave him an extension and a contract raise at the end of last season. We are barely at the midpoint. Let it play out before you completely send the Brinks truck up.” Finebaum continued, stating that he does not believe Curt Cignetti is one of the best coaches in college football. Cignetti went on to prove that he is by leading the Hoosiers to their first national title in school history. Indiana also became the first team to ever go 16-0. “I’m still not convinced that Curt Cignetti is one of the top coaches in America,” Finebaum said. “He has coached brilliantly this year, but can’t you let it play out a little bit. He has one big win, maybe one-and-a-half, including the win a couple of weeks ago over Illinois. “And by the way, since Indiana is going to be in the playoffs, there’s no way he could leave anytime before December or January.”Fans recently took to X and blasted Finebaum for his take about Cignetti.
