Human trafficking can be difficult to see at first, but once you know what to look for, you realize it’s a lot more common than you think.

Many don’t even see themselves as victims because their trafficker has tricked them into believing that they are loved and cared for.One of the best definitions is from Durham Regional VSU Human Trafficking Crisis Intervention counsellor Karly Church, a Canadian survivor of domestic sex trafficking, who says: “There are certain elements that need to be present for human trafficking to exist. Those elements are force, fraud, coercion and facilitation by a third party or a group of people.
