After a few days with warming temperatures this week, a weak summer cold front could bring heavy rain to the region.
For much of this week, a ridge of high pressure in the upper atmosphere will inch its way to the east, closer to South Texas . It will be the dominant feature of the weather pattern through at least Wednesday, leading to hot temperatures and little to no rainfall. By the second half of the week, long-range weather models are showing a potential shift in the weather pattern. The high-pressure ridge will move back west, and a summertime cold front is likely to start moving through Texas.
On Monday, San Antonio can expect high temperatures to rise back to 95 degrees, which is right at the historical average for mid-July. Temps will continue to rise by a degree or two each day, reaching high temps of 97-98 degrees by Wednesday and Thursday. However, while temperatures are expected to stay below 100 degrees, heat index values will not be so kind. Humid conditions will make temps feel like 105 degrees by Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
