After a brief search, the formally announced Saturday that Eliot Wolf, the executive who had led their front office since Bill Belichick’s departure in January, will become the franchise’s executive vice president of player personnel. Since Robert Kraft purchased the Patriots 30 years ago, the franchise has never given out the general manager title, but that’s effectively what Wolf is now.
Why they went with Wolf Wolf has only been with the Patriots the last four seasons, but the son of Hall of Famer Ron Wolf made enough of an impression on Kraft to get the first chance at leading the front office post-Belichick. Kraft said that as they sought a front office lead for the first time in more than 20 years, he wanted to see how Wolf led and collaborated with Mayo before finalizing a formal front office leader.
