He ran for three separate first downs on the possession and evaded defenders in ways that did not seem possible. As the drive ate up time, and the clock hit the two-minute warning, the Bills faced fourth-and-13 at the Kansas City 27-yard-line.
Allen still had 1:02 left on the clock with his team now down 33-29. He only needed 49 of those seconds. He hit Davis for a 28-yard strike, then a 12-yarder. Three plays after that he hit Davis again in the end zone—which was Davis’s fourth touchdown catch.That left 13 seconds for Mahomes to come through on a desperate bid to get into field goal range. That is also when the Bills made a potential tactical blunder that helped Kansas City pull off its miracle.
