Actor Eric Dane has died. The “Grey’s Anatomy” alum passed away on Thursday, 10 months after announcing his ALS diagnosis. He was 53 years old. Dane’s family shared in a statement to People, “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS.
When a News Talk FM reporter shared her “sincere condolences” with Dempsey on Tuesday, he appeared visibly emotional. Patrick Dempsey details ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ co-star Eric Dane ’s difficult final days before tragic death from ALS Dempsey went on to share his own take on the “very hard” grieving process, explaining that his father passed away when the Golden Globe nominee was “very young” and his mother has since died as well.
Dempsey added, “I know a lot of people reached out to him before his passing to keep track. He was so beloved and is deeply missed.”“I just woke up this morning and I was very sad to read the news,” Dempsey said. “It’s hard to put into words.
