No injuries were reported as a result of the incident at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital.
A patient in custody and receiving treatment at a South Jersey hospital fired a gun in the emergency room, county authorities confirmed Monday morning.
“There were no injuries as a result and there is no threat to the safety of the patients or visitors to the hospital,” Lt. Anthony Roccia, with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, said in a statement Monday. “The patient was seen by medical staff and was discharged back to police custody,” Pensiero said. “This is an ongoing investigation, being handled by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.”
Because the investigation remains active, “no further information can be released at this time,” Roccia, of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, said Monday.
