Ben Hayes played a role in keeping the community close after a mass shooting hit Dadeville.
) - No matter how far, the shooting in Birmingham struck a chord for some in the small town of Dadeville.
“When I read the story Sunday morning, my heart skipped a beat, and it felt like we were right back here we were,” said Ben Hayes, pastor at First Baptist Church in Dadeville . “You can’t force yourself on people because when you do, you’re pushing them farther away, you’re pushing them within themselves. They need to be willing to talk when they’re ready to talk,” said Hayes.
“Take advantage of those things being offered because you may not think you need it know. You will need it in the long run, and we’re seeing some of the results of that in students,” said Hayes.
