In a tweet on Friday, Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto said Pasig City’s transportation department had provided free rides to 111,628 health workers and other essential personnel in the city from March 19 to April 30. | CMarquezINQ

On March 18, the local government rolled out its free bus service for essential workers who are exempted from the lockdown being implemented in Luzon. During the ongoing quarantine period, public mass transport services were suspended.

Sotto added that the city government is crafting a transition plan for transportation once the enhanced community quarantine ends on May 15. “Their hands will be full as they draft and implement our transport transition plan for our exit out of ECQ to GCQ , relaxed CQ , and no CQ ,” Sotto said. The government extended the enhanced community quarantine in the National Capital Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and other high-risk areas until May 15 as the number of coronavirus disease cases continue to soar.
