Deer Park Pinto all-stars closing in on Louisiana prize
Pasadena Mustang coach Andrew Fuentes watches Jason Reyes sneak off third base during Friday night's game. Reyes helped the team nearly overcome a 10-1 deficit.FRIENDSWOOD - If things continue the way they’ve been going, the Deer Park Pinto All-Stars will definitely be celebrating this holiday weekend, but it won’t have anything to do with America’s 246th birthday.
Kingwood stomped Pasadena 14-1 and La Porte motored by the Katy Heaters 16-7, giving those squads the same hope that their season will be ending in Louisiana. In Friday’s romp, the players seemed to have a better grasp of the fundamentals and they definitely weren’t shy about taking extra bases even if that gave their fans some heart-stopping moments. There was one moment where the throw home arrived ahead of the Deer Park runner, but the catcher lost the handle on the ball and the runner was safe.
The dimensions to the fences are 109 feet to the left field corner, 121 to straightaway center and 113 to the right field corner. Pasadena lost to the Katy Lonestars 13-9 Friday night, meaning the team must construct a three-game winning streak or their season is finished. They must play two on Saturday and a third on Sunday in order to reach the title round, scheduled for Sunday at noon.
