It’s always great to walk into Nellie Partow ’s studio and spot a bit of funky metallic hanging on the racks—a classic knitted sweater and a matching pleated skirt in a groovy silver. This time around, it ended up being hand-painted, which gave it a slightly crisp texture on the outside, while remaining soft to the touch inside.
But the real story at Partow this season was her tailoring: a structured bonded cotton jacket with just the tiniest bit of a cinched waist and beautiful darts that added a little bit of drama while being perfectly tailored for the everyday, paired with delightfully ’90s flat front trousers with the slightest boot-cut leg . Meanwhile, she took the bonded cotton that she usually uses on her trench coats and cut a pair of pleated straight leg trousers; they really held their shape, and had a bit of a punk edge. Bold cotton poplin shirting rounded out the lineup, with a two-tone bib cropped shirt, and a matching shirt and trouser set adding a nice touch of fun.
