One of the teens involved in the 2021 crash that damaged the hospital recently sent a letter to the staff, apologizing for her actions.

In August, a police pursuit of three teenagers in a pickup truck ended when the driver lost control on State Road, slamming into the front of the facility.Office manager Debra Bartowick has worked here for 21 years and said the past few months have been rough. The staff ended up doing the cleaning up part themselves and volunteers helped out, but a lot of business was lost in the process.

Construction has begun on the brickwork and framing for the front window, which was destroyed by the impact. One of the teens involved, a 16 year-old girl, recently sent a letter to the hospital which says, in part: “I just want to start off by saying I am so very sorry for the damage that occurred. I know no matter how much I write, or how much I apologize, it will never make up for the damage that happened.”“It was nice. It was a sweet gesture for them to do.

The staff wants to put this incident behind them but hopes it delivers a strong message to those involved. “All your actions have consequences, whether it comes upon yourself or a business,” Bartowick said. “In this instance, it not only hurt them and their lives, but it disrupted a lot of people in the community.”
