Parma City Schools’ Career and Technical Education program for the second year in a row received high marks on the recently released Ohio Department of Education’s school report card.
PARMA , Ohio -- Parma City Schools’ Career and Technical Education program for the second year in a row received high marks on the“We’re really excited about our results in our career tech field,” Parma City Schools Superintendent Charles Smialek said. “We continue to be very proud of the number of programs that we offer, the large number of students who participate in them. And, obviously, the outstanding results that we achieved.
Replacing a previous letter-grade system, the Ohio Department of Education’s star-based rating system includes overall ratings with 3 stars meaning a district met state standards. Last year, the district’s Career and Technical Education program overall received 4.5 stars with 4 stars achievement, 4 stars career and post-secondary readiness, 4 stars graduation rate and 5 stars post-program outcomes.“What’s the most exciting piece of career tech is that we’re not done yet. Obviously, 5 stars is very exciting but at the same time there is room for growth.”
