Parkland has allocated funds in its FY 2024 budget toward expanding its community clinics in Vickery Meadow and Southeast Dallas and building a new clinic in...

Parkland is still in the preliminary phases of planning for this new clinic, but it intends to expand care in specialties like ophthalmology, diabetes care, cardiology, gastroenterology and hepatology, neurology and oncology. This would be the first clinic in the network to have all these in-house specialties.

Vickery Health Center, another community clinic, would also get $24.5 million for its expansion. The 8,000-square-foot facility is smaller than the southeast Dallas clinic but provides similar primary health care services. Parkland plans to build a new 30,000-square-foot clinic in the same neighborhood at Dallas College’s Richland campus, a few miles northeast of the current clinic.Currently, the Vickery clinic records about 18,000 visits a year.

Raish said a zoning review is underway and that a groundbreaking would take place about six months after the zoning is finalized. In addition to expanding these clinics, Parkland has earmarked $8.5 million to acquire land to build a clinic in the Inland Port region. These expansions are expected to greatly reduce the burden on health care workers at the Vickery Health Center, make day-to-day operations easier at the southeast Dallas clinic and bring care closer to residents in southern Dallas County.
