The City of Cape Town has recently announced that parking marshals will be back in action in the Bellville central business district on Friday, 1 April 2022.
The management of parking had been suspended since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, but as things slowly return to normal, economic activity within the CBD has been booming.
As clients look for parking closer to their favourite restaurants, service centres or shops, the City hopes that managed parking within Bellville would provide consumers with a bit of relief, including parking a little closer to their destination. Parking marshals have already resumed duty in Sea Point, the Cape Town CBD, Newlands and Claremont since November 2021.
Consumers looking to visit their favourite restaurants or shops within Bellville without having to walk too far will need to fork out R3.40 per 15 minutes when it comes to parking within the designated area.“The purpose of charging a tariff for on-street parking bays is to ensure a turnover of bays in popular areas and where people do business.
