A freedom of information request for parking fines data by LDRS found that almost 9,000 fines were issued by the council in 2023-24, raising more than £260,000.The council also said the money raised from fines goes back into the enforcement service. Number of fines in North East Lincolnshire and revenue raised – according to the council's data seen by the LDRS“Any surplus is ring-fenced by legalisation which limits what it can be spent on, and the revenue breakdown is published on the council website.”
The council also explained they have seen an increase in parking fines or penalty charge notices , as a result of enforcement cameras that were introduced outside schools. The council told the LDRS that the first school to get the CCTV enforcement outside was Signhills Academy, ahead of the 2022-23 school year.
