Parents of students near the recently ravaged Palisades and Eaton fire zones in California are raising concerns about the safety of returning to school, questioning the thoroughness of cleanup efforts and the potential lingering health risks from smoke, ash, and debris. Despite assurances from school officials that campuses have been cleaned and are safe, many parents remain apprehensive and are demanding more transparency and stringent safety protocols.

Chris Dennis walked up Palm Street and down Lincoln Avenue in west Altadena, past charred husks of houses and cindered carcasses of cars.
