Some parents are shocked to see that one church-based daycare, Troy First Baptist Church Daycare and Early Learning Center, is closing.
) -
On Halloween, parents with children enrolled in the program received a letter stating they would close in May of next year due to staffing shortages and financial issues.“I was a little shocked to be honest with you. How did this meeting go? No one told anyone,” the father said. “It’s difficult depending on their age, being a one-and-a-half or two-year-old, a little more difficult to get them in. And when you finally get that call saying, ‘we have an opening’ you’re elated.
Despite what was disclosed in the letter sent to parents, an email sent out to church members mentioned additional issues leading to this closure, including “pending issues with DHR and current and potential renovations.”The parent WSFA spoke to says he was told renovations would not affect the daycare.
