Allred proudly announced that daughter is now more than 90 days sober and thriving at IQA.
There’s growing fear among some parents in Seattle’s school district that the very school helping keep children focused, engaged and sober will be yanked away from them at the end of this school year.
Allred said she and her husband got their daughter into treatment and made arrangements for her to immediately start school at IQA.I don’t believe this would have been possible without the help of an alternative high school that is dedicated to teens' recovery," Allred said. "A program that is needed in all high schools, considering the pervasiveness of drugs and alcohol in schools.
Jennifer Hildreth reached out to KOMO News asking for help to save what she calls “this amazing school.” So, now these parents and others are in a fight to keep the Recovery Academy open and available not only to their students, but to all families in Seattle in need of this type of specialized environment.
The letter went on to say that IQA, like all other schools in the district, are working out their budgets right now. Several parents told KOMO News this is the last school the district should consider closing. Parents said Seattle Public Schools and other districts need to add these types of schools, not eliminate them.
