TAIPEI: A 7.2 magnitude earthquake rocked Taiwan on Wednesday (April 3), the strongest tremor to hit the island in at least 25 years, killing one person, injuring dozens and sparking a tsunami warning for southern Japan and the Philippines that was later lifted.

Muhammad Firdaus Shariman, 32, and Siti Salasiah Jumaah, 25, did not contest the charge after it was read to them before Sessions judge Norma Ismail here on Wednesday . They were charged under Section 31 of the Child Act 2001 read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to 20 years or a fine of up to RM50,000 or both upon conviction.
