Parent in college admissions scandal gets twice the sentence as Felicity Huffman for the same crime:
New York attorney Gordon Caplan was sentenced today to one month in jail for paying $75,000 to alter his daughter’s ACT exam scores. This is twice the sentence that Felicity Huffman received for virtually the same crime.
So what might account for the harsher sentence? Caplan did pay Singer quite a bit more than Huffman did--$75,000 compared to $15,000. But,
