Paramount warns YouTube TV subscribers of potential channel loss due to failed contract negotiations. The streaming service accuses YouTube TV of demanding unfair terms, while YouTube TV insists it's been seeking a fair agreement.

Paramount is warning its subscribers that Google's YouTube TV may drop its channels, including CBS , MTV , and Comedy Central , due to a contract dispute. In a memo to employees, Paramount co-CEOs George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy, and Brian Robbins stated that negotiations with YouTube TV have stalled, with Google allegedly demanding one-sided terms.

Paramount claims YouTube TV is pressuring them to agree to unfavorable terms, which could result in its networks disappearing from the streaming platform. YouTube TV, on the other hand, maintains that it's been working in good faith to reach a fair agreement but hasn't been successful. They deny the claims of one-sided demands and state that Paramount content will become unavailable on their platform starting February 13th.This standoff comes as YouTube TV, with 8 million subscribers and a monthly fee of $82.99, has become a major player in the pay TV market, competing with traditional cable providers like Charter and Comcast. Google's video giant, which also holds the exclusive rights to NFL Sunday Ticket, reported $11.6 billion in revenue from its subscriptions, platforms, and devices business in February, demonstrating its growing influence in the television landscape. Paramount, meanwhile, recently secured a multiyear deal with Comcast to keep its channels available on Xfinity, highlighting the importance of these distribution agreements for both companies
