Umat Katolik Malaysia mengiringi pemergian Sangti Papa Emeritus Benediktus XVI, yang wafat pada Disember 31, 2022 lalu dengan Misa Arwah.
Saya mendengar pelbagai kisah tentang Sri Paus Benediktus XVI daripada para Uskup lain yang bertemu dengan mendiang Bapa Suci itu di Roma. Mereka mengatakan mendiang Bapa Suci Benediktus seorang yang sangat merendahkan diri, bijaksana dan rasul Yesus. Dia adalah seorang lelaki Kristus dan Tubuh Kristus, Gereja dan kedua-duanya adalah satu realiti baginya.
Saya menunjukkan kepadanya peta Keningau, Malaysia dan beliau memberi semangat kepada saya untuk terus melayani umat beriman. Sebelum Misa penutup, saya dan ratusan ribu belia berdoa vigil di padang terbuka Marianfield, di mana pada esoknya, kami merayakan Perayaan Ekaristi yang dipimpin oleh Sri Paus Benediktus XVI.
