A social media user has explained how his A4 paper tip has helped him save money and keep his home warm during the winter

In an effort to save money amid soaring energy costs, one smart home owner has unveiled their technique to reduce how much they spend on heating their house. The trick has seen them increase their home's temperature by by 3C with just an outlay of £50, as reported byThey said that their house temperature would drop to 14C and on some occasions would struggle to reach 17C even with the heating being used for three hours straight.
"After some checking, I quickly realised that the PVC rubber seals had got so stiff from age, they weren't doing their job - so a 1mm gap would form between the stiff seal and the PVC instead of being sealed - allowing cold air to pass in. To test if you have a gap in the seal, slide a piece of paper between the seal and the frame/door. If paper can easily get through, then air can get through.
