PETALING JAYA: All patients and staff have been safely evacuated from Papar Hospital after it was struck by a fire, with no fatalities reported, according to Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad ."It is with great sadness that I inform you Papar Hospital in Sabah has been hit by a fire.""I have been informed no fatalities have been reported."

"Necessary evacuations, including transfers to nearby hospitals, have been successfully carried out," he said in a posting on X late on Monday night .Earlier reports indicated that firefighters were trying to extinguish the fire, which was believed to have started around 7pm on Monday.Medical officials are working diligently to move patients and equipment away.

Dr Dzulkefly also urged the public to remain calm and give the Fire and Rescue Department sufficient space to perform their duties. "Further updates will be provided once an investigation is completed and confirmation is received from the relevant authorities." "I kindly ask for everyone's patience during this time.
