NSTsports: The decision is surprising as Pandelela and Mun Yee enjoyed a great outing in Montreal last weekend.

This is because the pair have opted to skip the next two legs in Kazan and London to focus on the World Cup in Tokyo on April 21-26.The pair grabbed the women’s 10m platform synchro silver while Pandelela finished third in the individual event.

“It was a great outing but this will be our only event in the World Series as we’re giving the next two legs a miss,” said Pandelela. “Since our training in China has been cut short, we need more time to prepare for a strong showing at the World Cup.” Amateur Swimming Union of Malaysia secretary-general Mae Chen confirmed that the national divers will spend the next few weeks training at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil.“The divers will instead spend more time training and preparing for the event in Tokyo,” said Mae.

“Right now, they will be based in Bukit Jalil as it is the safest place to train considering all factors in view of the Covid-19 outbreak.”
