Is black licorice due its moment in the sun?
. Red Vines and Twizzlers, known for their super sweet red varieties, make black licorice as well, but theirs feels actively bad on purpose, like a prank against kids, somehow set on confirming their suspicions. To me, the best of all is, a Finnish brand, which is the only variety of black licorice I can eat a whole pack of in one sitting—and which, conveniently for me, is always in stock at my corner market.
Panda was started in Vaajakoski in central Finland in 1927. In Nordic countries, the brand is responsible for a wide variety of chewy treats, but in the US, the only Panda products for sale are three flavors of “natural” licorice: raspberry, strawberry, and soft black. Each comes in a bag of 1-inch hollow tube bundle pieces or as aSlightly sweet and subtly herbal, Panda black licorice is extremely easy to eat.
