Pamela Anderson discusses her SAG nomination for her role in 'The Sound of Frankie' and reflects on the true value of acting, even without an Oscar.
Pamela Anderson may not have been nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in 'The Sound of Frankie,' but the actress and model isn't letting it dampen her spirits. While she acknowledges the disappointment, Anderson emphasizes that the true reward lies in the act of creating and delivering a compelling performance. 'Doing the work is the win.
That's what I like to do, and I think we can lose sight of that sometimes in this whole crazy awards season, but it's nice to be recognized, and it's all a bonus,' she shared. Anderson expressed gratitude for being recognized by the Screen Actors Guild, calling it 'really cool' to be acknowledged by her peers. She shared, 'I couldn't imagine anyway,' referring to the SAG nomination. This recognition comes after a long promotional journey for the film. Critics have been effusive in their praise of Anderson's portrayal of Shelly, a seasoned Las Vegas showgirl whose world is disrupted when her long-running revue closes. Facing uncertainty about her future after 30 years on stage, Shelly grapples with change and rediscovery.Anderson revealed she was immediately drawn to the project directed by Gia Coppola. 'I've never read a script that I responded to like that before — no one was sending me anything like this,' she stated. The role offered a chance for Anderson to break free from past typecasting and demonstrate her acting range. She confessed, 'I knew I was capable of more than I'd done in the past, and I kind of had given up and went home and thought, oh well, it's too bad. I screwed up. I didn't work hard enough or people just see me a certain way because I fell into the trappings. I want to be defined by what I do and not what has been done to me.'
